A unique Black Tea experience
Lapsang Souchong is a true gem among Chinese black teas. Hailing from the Wuyi Mountains in the Fujian province of China, where tea cultivation dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), it has a unique smoky flavour achieved through a meticulous and traditional smoking process. It has been enjoyed for centuries and is known for its ability to evoke tranquility and connection to nature.
Lapsang Souchong tea is rich in antioxidants, protecting the body against free radicals in the environment. These antioxidants have been shown to reduce the chance of developing heart disease. The tannins found in this tea can aid with digestion and decrease inflammation. Black tea is great for reducing the stress hormones and boosting the immune system. The caffeine contained in this tea also provides a great, natural energy boost.
Brewing instructions: The standard ratio for Lapsang Souchong is one teaspoon of loose tea leaves per 8 ounces of water. Lapsang Souchong brews best with water just off the boil, around 93-100°C. Steep the tea for 3-5 minutes. For a truly exceptional Lapsang Souchong experience, consider using teaware that enhances the tea's unique characteristics. A porcelain teapot or a clay teapot with a good-quality stainless steel or ceramic strainer works best. Avoid using materials like plastic that can absorb and transfer unwanted odors.
