What are the benefits of drinking Chamomile Tea?

Chamomile tea is a popular bedtime drink, as it's caffeine-free and slightly sweet making it a very pleasant sip. Extracted from a plant that looks a lot like a daisy, this herb has been used in traditional medicine for centuries, and continues to be popular till today. Here are some of the main ways Chamomile tea can be a great addition to your

1. Reduce stress and anxiety

One of the most commonly known benefits of Chamomile tea is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. study conducted in 2016 showed signs that “long-term chamomile was safe and significantly reduced moderate-to-severe GAD [Generalised Anxiety Disorder] symptoms,” though it doesn't necessarily prevent anxiety. Still, it's a great way to calm the mind after a long, hard day!

2. Sleep benefits

Chamomile contains a flavinoid called apigenin which has mild sedative properties. While it doesn't cause extreme drowsiness, it is widely used to help relax the mind just before bedtime and is a great natural way to treat insomnia.

3. Immune boosting properties

Chamomile tea contains anti-oxidants that can help to reduce inflammation and promote a healthy immune system. Drinking chamomile tea regularly can help to strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of infections and other illnesses.

Baiji's Chamomile tea is infused with goji berries, a popular super food, and liquorice root, which is proven to help reduce body fat, heal stomach ulcers, and fight infections.

4. Period pains

Chamomile tea has been used as a natural remedy for period pains for centuries. It's thought that the anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties help with cramping. On top of that, it helps regulate dopamine and serotonin hormones, which can balance out your symptoms of PMS just before your period begins.

5. Bloating and digestion

Drinking chamomile tea after a meal can help your body fight against nausea, indigestion, and other digestive issues. Again, the anti-inflammatory properties are at work here, reducing bloating, abdominal pain, and gas!

While not everyone is a fan of Chamomile's sweet floral and earthy flavours, if you're yet to try it to help with the above issues then you should definitely give it a go! I can't recommend it enough if you love natural wellness and herbal teas, it's one of the easiest types to add to your daily routine.
